One big happy family at Jack's blessing. Yep. That's us. My little bookworm read that book in one sitting. Dinosaurs!
And that kids, is what happens when you don't clean up your toys. No Tate! Don't jump in! Trying to escape the lava flow by climbing a very small tree.
Uncle Caleb showing them how it's done. King of the rock. Please don't touch the dinosaurs? What does that mean?
The monsters with cousins Drew and Anne. Noah reading something with an air of authority, he has no idea that his head is about to be bitten off by something with very sharp teeth. Huh. I wonder what he's in the process of saying that is making her stomp off like that. That's what happens when you don't tell Mom that your toenails need to be cut.
That is one evil looking pet dinosaur. I wouldn't turn my back on him if I were you... Hiking with Daddy.
What a view! Pit stop while hiking. Look! Another park!
Tess looks a bit worried about this whole thing... Oh goodie. Sand. I love sand. Monsters on a dragon.
This cool slide wasn't there when Dad and I attended elementary school there. Funny kids. Sticking your tongue all the way out really helps. Tess cooking with Grandma. Which is more fun that cooking with Mom. She seriously said that.
A whole tower of spiders. Gross. None of the monsters wanted to touch the starfish. She was really excited about the fish. Monsters.
Awww...look how deceptively cute he is! Climbing web. Monsters.
Awww...cute again. Noah is glad that the next time we drive to Utah he won't have to climb in the back so I can feed the baby. Jared took Noah and Tess to the Rangers game with the scouts. Goofballs. And I love the boots with the shorts look...
Awww...sharing. Crazy, patriotic monsters...and Jack. Awww... Pillow fight!
I totally had to take Ibuprofen and put the hot pad on my back after this...I am so old. I've titled this picture "The beginning and the end." Monsters, I mean Beavers, flashing more gang signs before going to Twilight Camp.
The monsters in the Medivac Helicopter at Tball closing ceremonies. Noah's Tball team, and other two monsters, on the Medivac helicopter. I'm not sure why we're flashing gang signs in our pictures nowadays...
Noah getting his trophy. Noah's Tball team.
Grandpa and the older monsters glued to the lappy... Baseball camp.
Noah liked baseball camp, even if there were no campfires or hot dogs. More baseball camp... Seeing what Noah's throwing speed is. 40 yard dash.
Waiting to do the long distance throw.
Noah and Joey are very excited to watch the Rangers cream the Mariners. Noah trying out Joey's binoculars. Noah did a lot of dancing and cheering.
Noah hiding from the kiss cam...ewww gross. Noah and Joey having a sword fight with their foam fingers. Big Head and his buddy Toothless.
Noah is excitedly opening his birthday presents. Noah had big plans for his birthday money. More money? More plans. Noah made sure to read every card.
Noah loves his new Batman quilt. Thanks Grandma! Noah was a little bit excited to get a set of Magic Treehouse books.
If one set of books wasn't exciting enough, he got 3 more sets. Watching Noah play his new Didj game. Watching the game is the next best thing to actually getting a turn. No blinking necessary.
I admit that I may have gotten a little drawn in myself. Such a handsome birthday boy. Is he going to get his wish? Noah at his first grade awards ceremony.
"This is how strong I usually look!" Tough guy. Silly boys. The kids love to pile shoes on the volcano and wait for it to explode.
Noah the professional big brother. Noah being a ninja. Jared let the kids run through the sprinklers next door, cause he's more fun than me.
Wet and covered in grass clippings. Nice. Monsters three. Some pretty dang handsome boys. Trying to earn our official "Texan" cards.
Cute kids. The kids were actually pretty excited by all the flowers everywhere. Not yet tired of smiling. Noah's turn.
What a handsome kid. Seriously so many bluebonnets. What a stud. Sleepy kids.
Dang flash waking kids up. Noah and his class are waiting in line to watch an IMAX movie. Unfortunately, they are thrilled to be watching a dinosaur movie, instead of the movie about the Colorado River we are about to see. A couple of kids that are too cool to keep their hands down.
Lunchtime by the pond. A couple of fierce looking dinosaurs. Inside a kaleidoscope. Way too many 6-year-olds. Noah is the last survivor of a killer virus strain.
Noah thought the children's museum was pretty cool. Digging for dinosaur bones. Patiently brushing. I think he thought that if he could dig it up they'd let him take it home.
"It must be a femur!" Okay, he might not have said that. We got to come back and dig up more bones. Noah and Tate are ready to go camping. Noah helped me get the poles put together.
Multiplication is pretty gangsta. Noah was catcher for a while at his first game. Practice swings... Noah showing you how many kids he got out while playing first base. On a side note...why the heck can't my yard look that nice and green this time of year?
Noah got a game ball! He was awesome on 1st base. He caught one from the pitcher to get a kid out and caught another right out of the air before it had even touched the ground. It was AMAZING! Everybody there was in shock, way to go Noah! Noah and his new shirt from the Easter Bunny. Noah trying to find the yellow and green eggs. Watching conference.
We printed out Conference coloring pages and Conference bingo pages for them... This was about as long as the whole "sit and listen and be quiet" thing lasted. Then it changed to "go and get out and you can't be out here if you can't be quiet." Noah's hands and his bunny. Making chocolate dipped pretzels that Mom can't eat.
This recipe came out of the Princess cook book Tess got for her birthday, these are really princess wands--not pretzels. They gave Noah a sweet Lego kit with a submarine and shark-guy. Noah loves his new sea Legos. Now we'll see if he can keep them clean. Our kids decided that they wanted a turn being the laundry fairy.
They needed a ladder to reach into the bottom of the washer. This is why people buy front loaders I think. Noah chowing down on his Valentine candy from Mom and Dad. Even though there were "only five in here!" All the kids pelting Dad with snowballs.
Tess just heaved that gigantic snow blob at Jared. The very large snow monster. There's Noah!
The kids put on a Nursery Rhyme thing at school and Noah was a black bird. The program was pretty cool, they sang all these nursery rhymes set to rock music. "We Will, We Will Winkie" to the tune of We Will Rock You, it was hilarious! Noah, Noah's incurably chappy face, and his Valentine box for school. Grandpa felt bad for Noah, who just had to sit through his second round of present opening without getting anything. Grandpa made his day!
Dinner at the Pinewood Derby. Noah and his car, which took first in one of its races! No, he's not officially a cub scout yet. His car raced in the open race with a bunch of other ward members who wanted to build one. The chappy faced artist and his picture at the school art show.
Noah's picture from the school art show. This picture is almost as adorable as it is horrifying. The kids met Daffy Duck at Six Flags. Tate was very excited to be touching Bugs' face.
Cute monsters. Apparently this was Noah's favorite ride. Haha. Look! Another picture of the trucks!
Dad and the kids on a magic carpet style bus. Glad I didn't have to ride any of these... This ride had the slowest. moving. line. ever. I love these swing type things. We stopped and got a few treats to share around. Noah was thrilled about this giant turkey leg.
Noah on the merry-go-round. Which was one of only two things Mom rode while we were there...the other being the train. Watching movies on New Year's Eve. Noah opening up his gift. It's too bad we didn't get a decent picture of the jumping and yelling that went between this picture and the last one.
Devouring the rice krispie house. Yay! More sugar! Okay we get it...move on. And there's Noah.
Funny kids... I don't know, do you think they are excited to see their presents? Noah was super excited about his Didj, hardly even noticed it wasn't a DS like he wanted. Aunt Ashley made these great crowns. The kids love them, been wearing them all day.
Tate is making sure his crown is still on. The kids also love the presents Caleb and Ashli picked for them. Noah got a really cool scooter from the Sowerby's as well. It can go straight or spin around in circles. All together now.
Grandma's scooter gang. Noah's turn. Noah was pretty relieved to have some bigger shirts. Noah's diligently frosting his cookie.
Can you fit any more gummy bears on that cookie, Tess? Chewing his cookie very seriously. Reading The Night Before Christmas and then the nativity story from the Children's Illustrated New Testament. Tate was pretty interested in blocking everyone else's view of the book.
The kids all ready for bed in their new jammies. My favorite part about Christmas is how eager they are to go to bed. Merry Christmas! Funny kids.
Yeah. This is exactly what I meant when I said "look here and smile." Way to go guys. Much, MUCH better. The boys. Aubrey got to visit Noah's class Christmas party.
He wanted to make a mountain of sprinkles and decorations. Looks like he succeeded. Noah's school had a 1st Grade Cookie Night with lots of fun and games for the kids. Not really many cookies though. Noah turned his mouse into a Teenage Mutant Ninja Mouse.
Michelangelo re-imagined as a mouse. All the monsters and Santa. A shake and go Jet. Kind of cool, sort of noisy and obnoxious. Nice face.
If you're going to be like that then fine. Gladly. So much excitement! So much "help." Noah and his new ornament.
Oh look, sharing. Funny boys... Awwww...aren't they cute when they're sleeping?
Then of course all the kids had to get in on the photo taking... Noah bundled up at Temple Square. This is much more like the kind of pictures we usually get.
Noah was sure he wanted to pull them around...but it was pretty crowded. Cold kids with really bad red eye... Monsters trying not to fall into the pool.
Funny kid. Fingers in mouths and not looking at the camera...guess that one's not Christmas Card material. Here we all are freezing our butts off. Noah was a great drummer!
Look at him go! Tate's turn! Lots of people and lots of noise. Throwing snowballs at Daddy. Great fun!
Holy crap! They're all looking at the camera! AND smiling! It's a miracle! Good thing they didn't really throw those at me...it would have gotten ugly. Sliding down into a pile of leaves. Piling them up for another go.
Woo Hoo! Here's hoping for a better picture when they get home... Here's us failing to get a better picture after they got home... Good grief...
Alright guys, I said a better picture... Eeeewwww. Noah really wanted us to pick out all the seeds and roast them, but we're lazy and we told him we could buy some next time we were at the store. Jared and his unbirthday cake.
Noah and his punkin. And his very chappy lip that he won't quit licking. Side view...I love how Noah is trying to squeeze his fat head in the picture. Trying to keep her pumpkin from rolling all the way down the hill and into the ditch full of swamp water. Priceless.
Apparently this little monkey can't read the signs that are all over the place in there that say not to climb on the walls. Here's Noah ignoring the rules some more. Come on! A nice picture... All I want is a nice picture.
Burning marshmallows at our mock campout. Noah got Joey to pull him on back up the line, not to the very top, and then let him slide down. This must have been before Noah fell off and smacked his head on the ground...he did it so many times his hands were just too tired to hang on. Tess on the zip line.
Seems like we just did something very similar to this TWO DAYS AGO! Seriously kid! Lesson learned...next time he'll be required to learn it with proper spelling... Here he is on his first day of first grade. He really wanted me to take a picture of his backpack. I'm not sure he's ever watched the X-Games, but he's proud of it nonetheless.
Noah had to have these uncleaned shrimp for his treat. Gross man. Tate insisted on wearing that backpack to Meet the Teacher Night. He's pretty sure he's starting first grade on Monday... Wouldn't it be nice if that boy would just smile like a normal person for a picture?
I missed the action shot of Noah pulling the sling shot thing back and instead got one of him letting it go...it was cool and he actually made one in the hole! Noah was very proud of himself for making one of them in the hole. Have you seen that ad from WalMart that says you can get all your back to school supplies for $9? Yeah. Those people owe me $40! How cool is that? Thanks to Sam for the nifty vinyl, printed backwards so I could put it on the back...genius.
Does it diminish the coolness of the X-Games backpack to strap a roll of paper towels on the front with the skateboard straps? Tate loved getting me wet. We must have had the settings funny for a couple of pictures. Enjoy these artsy motion shots. Noah loved the waterslides, and did them over and over again.
Noah liked the orange one best, though he liked to mix them up. Noah was feeling angry about something that afternoon. We had a KidCabin room for the kids. They thought it was great fun, and enjoyed the TV in their room. 3 kids waiting for it to be time to go get dinner.
Super pleasant Noah got some timeout after hitting his sister with a Leapster. Red Robin didn't have the Pot Roast burger, but other than that it was good stuff. I love their onion rings. The kids had a great time at Great Wolf. The kids were pretty fixed on the show.
The Clock Tower show was entertaining for the kids. Our cute kids. Noah picked out his clothes all by himself. He's a stylish kid. I took these pictures while Noah was supposed to be cleaning his room. I'm fascinated by the face tracking software in the camera. It is supposed to help make sure the most important part of the picture is exposed properly and in focus.
Noah was feeling a bit shy I guess. This picture had red-eye, but I had the camera automatically remove it. Our blue-eyed bespectacled boy at the Elder's Quorum Social. First shot with the new camera. Momentous, eh?
Noah actually enjoyed coloring, don't let his dour expression fool you. The Employee association at work had a pajama party for the kids and Elmo was there. I figured they would either panic or have a great time. Turns out they loved it. Noah's telling Elmo that Tate's his "biggest fan." Of course, now that we are all here with Elmo, let's all look at the video behind us and everywhere else but the camera.
All the kids got in a circle before dancing the hokey pokey. I'm not sure if Tate had any idea what was going on here. The kids had a lot of fun dancing with Elmo. Tate found this Elmo decoration and carried it around for probably 15 minutes.
Noah's new glasses... The oldest monster at swimming lessons. We're just glad they could talk him into getting in the pool. One eyed Pete didn't really want to have his picture taken but it had been a while since we posted anything new. We also felt we should have documentation of the time he nearly died from a corneal abrasion. Here's my cute family at the parade.
Patriotic monsters. I took the monsters to the local splash park last night, while waiting for it to be time to go pick up Jared after his 12 hour day. This thing turned off right before I took this picture...doh!
Here's the oldest monster... Crookston, Carter and Buckley kids...from left: Tess, Tate, Andi, Jordan, Peyton, Soni, and Noah. Dylan is the only one missing. My little Jedi warriors in line at the party. Noah getting his trophy at the RCYBSA (Royse City Youth Baseball and Softball Association) closing ceremonies.
Noah's T-ball trophy, which is already broken. Noah's coach congratulating all the kids on a good season. Before the bounce house got to be WAY too crowded to be fun. Pouting Noah.
Here is the oldest monster in action on the slip and slide...
This was right before we told Tate he wasn't going... Our happy campers...I made those snazzy water bottle slings today for them to take to Twilight Camp. Not sure why he looks so stoned here... I love how this kid can't do much without his tongue sticking out. So cute.
We had to make sno cones as soon as Noah had this out of the box. It was funny... Noah loves his new water gun. "I'm going to get Dad soaking wet with this." Reading the card that Andi drew him.
We play this game dozens of times every day. Noah hardly needed any help to read any of his cards. Noah had a blast building this model car. So did Dad. Noah was very gracious even though he was a little disappointed.
After saying thanks for the Macaroni and Cheese, I had to convince him to open the box just in case something else snuck inside. Such relief. After discovering the prize in the box, Noah still had no idea what it was. Noah was relieved to find out that his present was not Mac and Cheese.
Noah is already listening to his Sansa when he opened these new headphones. Tess was so proud of this card she made for Noah. After she drew it she made Mom call me at work so that she could tell me about it. If you have kids and have never read the Elephant and Piggie series of books, you must find them. They are the cutest and funniest kids books around.
Noah listened to his Sansa the entire rest of the day. Noah knew exactly what he was going to get with this card...keep going to see.
Noah wore his Happy Birthday glasses from school while opening his presents. All the kids like this one. Tate blew out the candles the first couple of tries.
Fast car! Noah was pretty excited when they came to sing Happy Birthday to him at Applebee's. The Longhorn, pre-stuffing. Noah spent some of his birthday money on a Longhorn from Build-A-Bear.
Noah's doing the magic whatever to make the little heart in his steer all special or something like that. Cleaning all the fuzz off. Dad! Take a picture of me on this bridge! I'm glad we decided to wander and find the playground. I hadn't ever noticed it before.
A couple of goofballs. Noah sitting with all the things he picked up with his birthday money. Noah loves the Texas Rangers shirt that he picked out. If you ask Noah, he'll say "It's for Josh Hamilton, he plays outfield like I do. And Dad calls him Ham Slam-which."
It's true, I do call him Ham Slam-which.
In the car at the crack of freaking dawn to go to Kindergarten Graduation. Noah walked down the aisle all cool like with his hands in his pockets...it was so cute. Sharp dressed man. Joe Cool standing in line waiting for his diploma.
Noah receiving his certificate from the Assistant Principal Ms. Oliver. It's official. Awww crap. If the batteries in my stupid camera hadn't given up the ghost right after I took this picture I would have been able to see it to know I needed to take another one...oh well. Here's Noah with his Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Magness. Give the woman a break, she has to be exhausted. I was hoping for a recreation of the picture we took on his first day of school. This is what I got.
What a cute kid. Way to go Noah! Pretty sweet tire cake I made for Noah. I chickened out of putting treads on it...so it's a racing slick. But that just makes it cooler! We picked up a kiddie pool for the monsters to play in on Memorial Day. Dad was a lot of help when it came to getting even with Noah.
Look! It's Royse City rock sensation The Three Little Pigs! Tate, the lead singer, mostly throws the mic and screams at the guitarist. It's hardcore! Noah plays guitar. You spend thousands of dollars on toys for your children and what do they really want? A box. Take me out to the ballgame...
Noah's picture of himself at Kindergarten graduation.(Which doesn't happen until the 5th of June--don't worry there will be pictures!) Don't give oranges tooth Fairy! I Love you! ♥♥ The monsters on Easter morning.
The Easter bunny found some really cool kits for hand puppets. Noah got an elephant, Tess got a tiger and Tate got a monkey. Pictures of those will be coming. Easter morning massacre. Cute little bunch of snots.
Couple of studs. Dyeing Easter eggs. Noah is being a dork...what a surprise. And Jared is looking really sexy. After dunking a pair of marshmallows right into the coals, Noah decided he needed a little more space from the fire for his next set. Noah racing around at Jordan's birthday party.
A shot through the fence of Noah running for home, this was just before he slid the rest of the way to the plate. Noah not looking at the camera after his first T-ball game. That's Noah out there under the black arrow catching the ball. But you could totally see that couldn't you? Noah stepping up the plate.
Noah up to bat. This was right before he didn't run. Oh look! PlayDough! I love PlayDough! Alright kids, thank Grandma for the PlayDough. Here's Noah on Western Day in Kindergarten with his stick horse.
Our little Cardinal. He he he. What a stud. Noah and I swung by the Art Show at the Elementary school on our way home from T-ball practice so he could show me his picture. The messy little artist (note the juice on his shirt...) and his work.
After a quick run through Noah was a natural at poking things with toothpicks. Chef Noah preparing some Luau Pineapple Picks for lunch. I have no idea why he's doing this. Tess insisted on being in the pictures.
Here's the oldest monster showing off all the new stuff we bought him for T-ball (from the waist down). We picked socks with red stripes since he's on the Cardinals. Noah is also wearing one of Jared's hats...fits him perfectly. Noah and Tate's new setup. Noah celebrated his 100th day of school today. This camera seems to cause nasty faces, and what's with the weird plastic film...
Huh...Noah still looks grumpy but Tess is happy to be on Kleenex box film... Noah made himself a box to put all the holiday, uh....stuff that brought home from school and the scraps of paper his friends give him in so that I wouldn't throw them away... Tess stepped on the pedal to make the stuffing come out.
Noah doing something Noah-ish at Chuck E. Cheese. The Joys of Literacy: Part Two And here is one more reason that the kids like him more... Once he was up he freaked out about getting down. And since we have seen him do this MANY MANY times (in this case we're talking about climbing off of the top bunk and not pitching a huge fit) we told him he would just have to figure it out. Fifteen minutes later he was springing up and down the ladder without any problems.
Tess went up to talk him down... ;) I'll betcha Caleb and Ashli had no idea that they were packing their Christmas gifts to us in such amusing packing materials... Welcome to my life. Back to school countdown starts...now. We opted out of church the Sunday before Christmas, due to the alarmingly large percentage of us who were barfing, so here are the kids all dolled up the Sunday after Christmas. They sure do clean up nice, don't they?
Cheese! Tate and Tess waited patiently by the baby gate while Noah ran to fetch my slippers. Noah was obviously pleased with the goodies in his stocking. Let the mess making begin!
Look, you can still see the carpet in this shot. Sniff...sniff. Tate heading over to steal candy while the kids are otherwise distracted. The kids all helped to open this big present. Jared (in the awesome new shirt his awesome, though not new, wife bought him) and Noah spent some time reading Noah's new books this afternoon.
The boys were both pleased with their new jammies. EWWWW! Hey look! It's the sprinkles from last year! Tess and Tate are being adorable before church while Noah, once again, is displaying his "too cool for you" face.
Noah was probably too cool for this too. And he asked Santa for a black power wheels truck. Bummer on you kid... Noah and Frosty at the eClub Christmas Party. Here are all the kids sitting on Santa's lap at the eClub party. Daddy stood in the long line with them while Mommy ran home to get the tickets she forgot in her rush out the door...grrrrr. Noah dancing with Rudolph.
Tate and Noah ended up with the same toy since we already had one of the toys they were giving the one year old boys (and it came up when Jared was helping them get set up). Here's Noah's "I'm too cool to smile at you" face. They're so busy gnawing on stale candy they can't even smile at the camera. Ha ha ha...demolition day.
Sugar coma coming on... Here we are at Kindergarten Gingerbread Palooza 2008! It was great, and mercifully short. The kids were cute and had a good time helping. Noah made the sidewalk out of red hots.
Noah was so happy he was dancing! Here are the kids all packed up and ready to go on an adventure. It's too bad that the sun was shining right on this cool red door, it would have made some neat pictures if we hadn't all been squinting. Our family picture from the Crookstons shoot.
The winning shot from the Crookston photo shoot, I think... Playing in the leaves with Aunt Bree. Bunch of monkeys... Tate's pants have issues staying on.
I think that this may have been the winner for the Sowerby family picture... I kinda like this one where we are all picking on Brian. Ha ha. Aanika (whose name I have no idea how to spell) got a really good picture of our boy... Of course Noah headed right for the stage...that boy is such a ham.
Tate in a Jeep with a gold digger. Act cool man... Finally headed home from Chuck E. Cheese (or as Uncle Brian has us calling it now--the seventh circle). Noah vehemently denies the validity of this picture. He keeps telling Jared that he drew him in, he never would have agreed to sleep on Tess' pink bed.
Here are the monsters on the A at USU... Thanks to Caleb and Ashli for helping us get some decent pictures while we were there. We went to Blue Bird with Caleb & Ashli and Nate & Ashley and their kids while we were in Logan. Tess was all smiles on the bus from the parking lot to the terminal at the airport.
The monsters all ready for church... Noah made Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwiches from his cooking book. The kids get a kick out of helping in the kitchen every time. After Tate had been watching the breadmaker, Noah wanted to see what all the commotion was about. I swear the kids actually enjoyed eating this Halloween castle thing.
Noah's digging his pumpkin out while wearing his Danny and the Dinosaur costume for school. Noah is putting in the stakes for his scary face jack-o-lantern. We've got the cutest kids EVER. The end of a fun evening of trick or treating.
Noah loved all the attention he got while he was walking around. The robot comes in the NIIIGHHT! The jetpacks were very popular. Noah's a little tired of me telling him to turn this way for a picture and that way for a picture.
ROBOT, ROBOT, ROBOT 3000. The kids had a good time at the Pumpkin Patch. Tess isn't sitting on a swing, Tess and Tate just have balloons tied to their beltloops. Noah was a bit jealous that Tate had wagon pulling permissions.
Noah tried on the body I finished last night, and it was way too wide. I took it completely apart, and this is a test fit of the smaller body. Here's Noah on his field trip to the pumpkin patch. Next to him is Alyssa, who was the other kid I was responsible for. Enjoying his un-roasted marshmallows...weirdo. Riding on the barrel train.
It was pretty cool. Noah and Alyssa outside the tepee. The kids watched a video about how pumpkins are grown in Texas. I didn't know you could get tepees with DVD players... :) Noah's Kindergarten class.
Noah's class and his teacher Mrs. Magness. Waiting in line for The Rattler... What a cutie! In the end I got to ride The Rattler with Noah...
Snack time! Woo Hoo! Wheeeee! Cute boy on a tire swing... Noah and I on the hayride.
Noah colored his pumpkin to look like a football player. Noah and Alyssa crammed in to the box on the ferris wheel. Look Mom! No hands! The kids really liked this ride...
These three spun the bucket around really slowly...it was so cute. The giant inflated slide was a big hit! Noah going down the giant slide... Noah had a little trouble with the sack non-race. (They started out racing but then kids were getting their feelings, and themselves, hurt. So they eliminated the element of competition.)
Here he is, back on his feet. Noah's class on the steps of the gift shop... Tess and Noah were playing with my legos when they decided that they wanted to turn the cars I had made into airplanes. They built these all by themselves. The kids and I got Jared a bunch of movies, that for the most part they aren't allowed to watch yet, and the new Weezer CD.
Enough to make any father proud. Yep. Couple of girls. What a smile! That's right. He lost another tooth...that's three now. Ignore that nasty yellow bruise by his eye, he got that trying to beat up the table by the couch with his head.
Here's the obligatory 'by the front door on the first day of school' picture. No crying this time, okay? Really guys, he's going to be fine. Noah is obviously thrilled with his pencil box... Here's our ham, cheesing it up for the camera while sitting at his spot on the table.
Here's Noah all clean and shiny. Look! They both survived! All of the kids got to pick a prize out of the treasure chest in the wall... Noah and Tess with the latest creation from Noah's cookbook.
Another one bites the dust. Noah and Tess are excited to go to the baseball game. Good job with the picture honey... Here's Noah pouting because we initially refused to buy the kids any treats because they didn't eat their dinner. Don't worry, we eventually gave in. The kids made chocolate dipped strawberries and orange slices.
Noah was impressed with his work. After Noah's tooth came out Grandma Sowerby sent us the tooth pocket we used when I was a kid. We had to tell the Tooth Fairy to come back later since Noah wanted to wait for the pocket to come in the mail. He was thrilled when he found it this morning. Noah needed some money so he yanked his loose tooth out with his bare hands. Noah came up to me excited that he has his first loose tooth.
Noah's cookbook had a recipe for hamburgers, and Noah thought they were delicious. I wonder what Jennifer said to gain the undivided attention of each of the kids. Here are the kids (and a couple of the grown ups) at this year's firework extravaganza. From left: Peyton, Andi, Dylan, Jennifer Wallace is sitting in the chair with the pink shirt. Tess is next to her and Troy Wallace is leaning against the van, Noah is there on the end. Soni and Tate were both sleeping in the house during the pyrotechnics. Silly boy.
The kids thought this box was the funnest toy ever. They crawled through it over and over, and Tate just couldn't stop laughing. The kids used these boxes they found to pretend they were robots. "Robot. Robot. Robot 3000." Now Noah wants to be robot for Halloween. Aubrey and I already have a lot of ideas for how to make a good robot costume. One of the hazards of these costumes were that the kids kept falling over. Didn't stop them from dressing that way all the way until I was dragging them to bed.
Noah wanted to make Ants on a Log, from his Kid's Cookbook from Uncle Caleb and Aunt Ashli. One thing you have to know about Noah is that he prefers watching Food Network to cartoons. He loves helping out in the kitchen. Noah and Tess are helping to make Purple Cow Milkshakes. Noah did a great job of putting ice cream in to make the shake.
Noah loved his purple cow shake. They loved the treat they helped to make. Twyla did a great job starting things up. Joy School graduation 2008.
Playing alphabet bingo with Skittles at Joy School graduation. Sam read the kids Oh the Places You'll Go at graduation, it was really cute. These kids are pretty cute... The kids are reciting some nursery rhymes for us.
Noah right after getting his diploma. The graduating class of 2008! Woo hoo! Congrats you guys!
Good job Noah! Funny boy. Noah had fun trying out his new bubble gun. "Look! I can play behind my head like John from the Aquabats! I saw him on Yo Gabba Gabba!" Noah got this guitar with his birthday money, along with some Lincoln Logs.
A loon and his new guitar. All the kids liked this game. (Well, all of them but Tess...) They had to pop the balloons to get the candy out. Trying to help Noah smile for the picture. Notice that some of the cupcakes are upside down...
Noah was mad that we weren't going to open presents first...since that would have been the backwards way to do it right? Apparently Noah is still a little miffed about the whole not opening presents first thing thing. Stupid, nasty, green, face-dyeing frosting...Noah loved it! Ready? Set...Go!
They had a backwards egg on the spoon race. Except that we used practice golf balls instead of eggs. Get him! Get him! Brandon gave Noah this bubble gun. Caleb and Ashli got Noah this cute cookbook, he is so excited to make all the yummy stuff in it!
The kids all wore their clothes backwards at Noah's party. Noah's looking pleased with his pinata loot. Noah was thrilled with the card Aunt Bree made. Noah and the side of Tate's fat head.
Noah really likes this backpack. It's for his Leapster, but he called it his rescue pack and wore it all day. I really don't know what is up with this face...he was excited to open presents. He really was excited about this...really he was... Ashli was a good sport and put this puzzle together about eight million times with Noah.
Noah was thrilled to get Grandma Ida's card in the mail today. Eating cake under the table at Noah's backwards party. Joey and Alyssa gave Noah this cool Hot Wheels crash cars together thing. Opening presents...either still or again.
MacKenzie has such a cute smile. Noah got a new Leapster game from the Carters. Tara got Noah these KidK'nex things, he's had a lot of fun with them so far. Noah got a Webkin from Joel. We have yet to make it work...
Inspecting his new cookbook. Good pick Tess and Tate. Opening some more... Tear into it buddy!
Jared keeping Noah honest. Yes, I see it. Candy! Candy! Woo! Hoo! The pinata has been opened! Bring on the candy that none of you are really old enough to eat...
Jared is so excited that Noah is starting to get Legos. The kids really, really like Ashli. Wet Noah. Noah and Caleb had a good time with the ring game at Bucks.
Couple of goons. Noah's muscles. Fuzzy rock star Noah. Here's the kids getting all wet.
Noah is "c..cco...coollllddd." I am the champion, I am the champion. No time for losers... Noah, Andi and Hunter warming the bench. Noah's coach giving him a low five at the game.
Jaguar time out. The "good game" ritual, which is pretty entertaining since a lot of these kids aren't really that coordinated. Noah's soccer team. From left: Andi, Noah, McKayla, Jax (who was the coach's son), Cameron (or maybe Camryn?) and Hunter. Cameron kept telling Noah how to pose in the pictures...
Way to go Noah! Good job! Noah and Andi after their last soccer game. Noah was really excited about the soccer ball on the top of his little trophy, it spins. Noah had his last soccer game today and got this little trophy for all his soccer playing efforts this season.
Every Sunday night we all sit at the computer and talk to Grandma Crookston using Skype and the webcams. The kids are always excited to tell her about their week. Noah's coach going over the game plan with the kids. (When you see the ball kick it. If you are too far away from the ball, get closer.) Ooh finally, an action shot. Run Noah! Towards the ball! Watch where you're going! Stop watching the other game! Kick it, kick it! Ok, keep kicking it! Good job! Stop looking at me, look at the ball! Noah going to get ready to get the throw-in.
Noah's a good soccer player. Noah's coach is reminding Noah to get back on the field. Mom! Take my picture Mom! What a funny boy.
Noah was a big help when it came time to deflate the air mattress. Noah's first soccer game!
Noah's A-OK. Tess found some eggs! Ooohh. Noah found one! The Great Egg Dash of 2008.
Good job Noah! Just a second after this picture was taken the kids ran right by that egg in the corner of the kitchen. Noah got whoppers! Woo Hoo! Candy!
That's like looking at me... Ahhhh. How sweet. The Crookston-Carter kids all lined up at church. We didn't make them all match on purpose, it just happened that way when Sam and I went to the store. We took the kids to the Easter Egg Hunt that the E-Club put on this morning. Looks like Noah found something.
Here's Noah searching for a treat. Noah and Tess with the Easter Bunny, I can't remember why Tess was giggling. Noah coloring on his egg with a white crayon before dropping it in to the dye. Noah and his first green egg.
Noah had a lot of fun coloring the Easter eggs this year. Almost done. The artists and their finished eggs. Look at Tess looking up at her Daddy...so cute. Noah and Tess watching the weekly podcast for kids from They Might Be Giants.
They love it. What a way to turn our kids into a bunch of techie nerds...podcasts for kids...sheesh. Here we start our attempt at getting decent picture of the monsters in their St. Patrick's Day shirts. Love the tongue Tess. In this shot Noah is explaining to me what I am doing wrong. He's been full of all kinds of "helpful" advice lately. Oh brother. Here's where we gave up on getting a decent picture. Since you can't see them Tess' shirt says "Dad's Lady Luck;" Noah's shirt says "St. Pat's Junior Motorcycle Club Live Young, Ride Fast..." and Tate's shirt says "Little Hooligans Club" and has the number 17 on it. Bunch of twerps.
Noah and his green Jell-O, green Kool-Aid, green fettuccine with green Alfredo sauce and salad. For dessert we had green tapioca. The joy school kids put together some patchwork quilts. This task took quite a bit of concentration. 1 kid ready for church. 2 more to go...
Handsome boy! Tate crawled over and said, "Cheese!" Which made every one in this picture laugh. Grandpa loves the "paparazzi." What a grin!
Noah did really well on his new bike! Pausing to wave at the camera. Noah on his spiffy new bike. The kids have a lot of trouble maintaining momentum on the little hill up to our driveway...
Here's my big boy... Sleepy looking kids. Noah made Grandpa put this puzzle together about a million times while they were here. Here's our Joy School gang all ready to toss a bunch of "snowballs" around.
They had a ball! Noah enjoying lunch at our new kitchen table. Here the kids are playing "drums." Cute little monkeys.
Noah's soccer team, minus one kid named Hunter. Noah did pretty good with this part. He really liked doing drills. Noah and Andi all lined up and waiting for their turns.
What a handsome little star. Here's Andi doing some dribbling. Noah and Jax, who is the son of the coach. Noah starting up his "Super Soccer Kick!"
Noah and Jax... Go Andi! Noah's tongue was sticking out of his mouth the entire time he was running. It was really cute. Tate bumped the camera. Lucky for Noah this is where the batteries in the camera died, so I don't have any pictures of him stomping on the ground and refusing to participate...the little dear.
The kids are still easily amused by the bread maker. "Look! Is it ready yet?" Sorry, guys...it's still just pizza crust. Noah loves "Balentine's Day!" Thumbs up!
Noah is one cool kid! We stopped at the Disney store after we got pictures taken and Tess picked this tea set up with some of her birthday money. It's been a big hit! The kids really liked this toy! Look. Kids. Everywhere.
Our kids are sure that you can't have a party without pin the tail on the donkey. Who ever decided to remove the bat from the whole pinata thing is a genius! The kids got these jammies for Christmas and I've been meaning to take a picture like this since then... so here it is. At least the boys are being cute. 2 out of 3 isn't bad...
Noah was really excited about his Pez dispensers. They came along with the other gifts "because he's such a good boy." :) I'm a mouse with green ears! Noah: Hey Dad! I made this Teacher Sotion. Isn't it great? Mom's going to love it and then she'll want to take a picture of it. Dad: A what? A Teacher's Ocean? What's that? Noah: No, a Teacher Sotion, like they have on Johnny Test! Dad: Uhhh.... After Noah had his picture taken, Tess needed to get in on the fun too, even though she had no idea what was going on.
The kids are all "sharing" this book. Let's share the hammer! I'll share it with you first! Thump! The kids had a fun time carrying balls on spoons. It took lots of concentration. Noah went on a field trip to the fire station today.
The kids had a really good time. Noah and Joey checking out the inside of the fire engine. It was a long jump down out of the engine. What a good class picture.
Noah got to hold "the heavy thing." Noah sure is a cutie. From left: Noah, Joey, Hope, Andi and Alyssa. After they got it as tall as Tess they decided to see if they could get it as tall as Noah.
Here's Noah with his Snoopy. My boys. Tate loves to climb up on Noah's bed. Ahhhh, another Crookston kid photo shoot.
We have a winner!!! Noah could hardly wait to open his presents and tore into the wrapping before Grandpa made it in the house. Noah loves his rescue pack! Noah loves his new toys.
Here they (we) come on Christmas morning. Noah's stuff from Santa. Noah loved his new slippers from the get go. One day he'll be a bluegrass sensation!
Tess inspecting her new wallet. Sorry girlie, Santa was too cheap to fill it. The kids played this butterfly game enough times to burn through 4 C batteries in one day! As soon as he saw the box he was excited. Noah loves these Lightning McQueen shoes, as do his parents, since he can put them on himself!
The kids have had a ball with this game! These shirts are so funny! The blue one says "Living legend in the flesh," and the red one says, "Welcome to Coolsville. Population: Me." Noah loved these jammies! and it's pretty cute when he comes to find some help with the zipper. Opening presents from Grandma Amy.
Thanks Grandma Amy! Prince Posture on his royal camping chair. Noah was actually really excited when he opened this corn dog box...just like last year. "Yes! Corn dogs! I love corn dogs!" Yay, a crock pot! Actually I think that this box contained Noah's new hoodie, which he loves.
New pants! Amid the chaos. Noah got these "Cars" cars from Tess and Tate. Merry Christmas Noah!
Noah loves his Leapster! Are we done smiling? Can we play them now? Picture quality on Christmas morning can leave something to be desired. Noah and all his new Christmas stuff. Notice a theme?
Look! They're ignoring us! I love this game! Tate was happy once he had some paper in each hand. The other kids knew what to do... Where did Noah go! Oh no, we'll never find him! How much do you think I can get for all his stuff?
Decorating some beautifully cut out cookies with some delicious homemade frosting. More sprinkles! Here Santa, have some cookie with your sprinkles. Noah decorating cookies for Santa.
Poison checking the cookies. We don't want to take out Santa. Look at them sitting nicely for a picture! That's better! Here the kids are beating the snot out of some Ritz crackers for a Mock Apple Pie. It was surprisingly good!
Grandma Glo and Ray sent Noah this great box to play in. He also appreciates the presents and treats it contained, but the box (aka: rocket ship) entertained him for hours. The kids really like it. After the kids party at L3 Jared helped the people move the boxes of leftover toys, then they let him take home a few more. The kids are patiently waiting in line to meet Santa.
It's good to know that the Cat in the Hat can still find work around the holidays. Here are the kids with Santa. This was of course before Tess pulled on his beard...way to go Tess, fat chance the sleigh stops here this year. This annoying snake makes a weird noise when you shake it. Of course Noah loves it. Noah couldn't wait to get his new cars out of the box. He tore the directions in half as soon as he got inside the house.
The kids got some cute new outfits from Grandma Sowerby. Noah is saying Hi to Aunt Ashli. We would tell him what letters to press to spell the word he wanted to say. He did a pretty good job. Noah and Tess fought over every beanie in the house after we got Tate's out. "I love reading the news, Dad!"
Noah drew me this picture to make me feel better one day... Here's our Joy School group, from left: Noah, Andi, Alyssa, Hope and Joey. Jared and the kids made a paper chain so that they would quit asking me if they could open the presents yet. Noah was very helpful when it came time to decorate the tree.
Noah taking close ups of his decorating work. Noah and Tess are making a "big family" out of play-doh. Stupid tree was going for the striped light look this year. And Noah is still working on tying that garland into an impossible knot. Noah and Tate are helping us tangle up the garland for the Christmas tree. It took Jared and I about half an hour to get it all untangled when they were done.
Here the kids are coloring turkeys that Jared helped them make with their hand prints. Noah drew this spiffy caterpillar earlier today and I decided to take a picture given the chosen medium. Noah doing the obstacle course we had at Joy School today. It was a pretty big hit.
Looks like Noah and Andi took a lesson or two in baby spacing from their parents. Suitable for posting on forums, facebook, and whatnot as a reply to a particularly brain-dead statement or question. Noah got in trouble for something, and every time I asked him how he was supposed to act, he put his hand over his face. Noah really wanted this picture of himself wearing his sisters dress up clothes to be taken...I'm not sure why.
Noah finished up his candy lots quicker than Tess did. Please, no pictures. Just hold still and smile for a picture you sugared up spaz. Jared and the kids all ready for Trick or Treating.
Arrrr mateys. Sugar sugar sugar. We didn't let them eat too much at one time. Noah started cleaning out his pumpkin using the one-seed-at-a-time, only-get-two-fingers-dirty method.
Noah like using this spoon much more than he liked using his fingers. Noah just wanted to be in this picture. Tess didn't want anyone to help her hammer the pegs in the holes. Jared helping Noah start his pumpkin while Tate screams in the background. Noah starting on Tate's pumpkin. Since Noah already decorated a pumpkin of his own at Joy School we let/made him to baby Tate's.
Here's Noah again. Hammering away. Holy cow I took a lot of pictures. Here's my kids sitting nicely and smiling for a cute picture. Look! It's Noah!
The Carters arrived at the Pumpkin Patch just minutes behind us. It was pretty funny. Look! There's a monkey in the hay maze! Noah and Peyton hiding out. More dancing in public.
The kids dancing around at Michaels. What a cute cheesy smile. It was a bit difficult to get the roof to stay on, and of course the kids lost it every time it slid down a bit...grrrr. This is about when I started saying, "Quick, stick stuff on before the icing sets!" It was a little difficult to get the things to stick to the roof...
Hey Noah! Ewwww...slimy windows. Ta Da! The cutest pirate ever.
Trying to get the kids to hold still for a picture. From left: Hope went as Sharpay Evans from her favorite movie High School Musical. Joey is a pirate, Andi is Dorothy (notice Dylan and Peyton in the front row as the lion and the scarecrow...Cameron is going as the Tin Man). Noah is a pirate too and Alyssa is a fairy princess, so is her sister Maddison who is in the middle in the front row. He he he. Singing the Mean Old Witch song. Here's the kids with their pumpkins. Instead of inviting a bloodbath by handing all the Joy School kids a carving knife we all bought these kits that had little light pegs and lights to go inside the pumpkin. They look really cool in the dark.
Such a cute pirate! This is most of the fabulously awesome pirate costume I made this year. I still need to glue the big fluffy feather on his hat and make some boot like shoe cover things. Pretty cool... While Sam and I ran to the store Jared got this toy out for the kids. Noah picked it out for Jared for his birthday a couple of years ago but it is still a hit.
Noah liked the pony ride. Tess squealed the whole time. We let the kids ride the pony ride at the Royse City Fun Fest this weekend. Dance! Dance!
Kids are funny. The kids feeding the fish and turtles at a Joy School field trip. Going on a nature walk at a local park. From left Hope, Joey, Alyssa, Twyla (Hope's mom), Noah and Andi and then Baby Tess there on the end. Look at all that nature you guys!
The kids loved the merry go round. Noah loved this bouncy dog. Sitting in the sun to warm up a bit. Noah being the hat seller in a play we did at Joy School.
"You monkeys give me back my hats!" I wrapped a box inside wrapped box inside a wrapped box...enough times that all of the kids got a chance to open one box. In the last one, that Noah is holding, there was a treat for each of them. They were supposed to learn about surprise. While playing Simon Says some one said, "Simon says it's time for a group hug!" Later that day they "painted" outside with water.
After he took a good long nap Tate supervised from the doorway. Noah was very proud of the "Y" he made on the driveway. Sam came a little early to pick up Andi and the kids were kind enough to give her a free carwash. Noah had a little trouble with the gun, not to mention that he hadn't taken a nap. He was teetering right on the edge of hysterical most of the night-it didn't take much to push him right over. Dylan on the other hand was a natural with a nerf gun.
Poor Noah was so tired. Grandpa and his grandsons. What a cute picture... The toys are always greener when they're closer to mom and dad.
This may look like a mouse made out of potatoes, but it's really a monkey. A monkey named "Cheeky." Noah really likes this Blue's Clues computer game Noah on his first day of his second year of Joy School. We bought this little pool at Wal-Mart on clearance. The kids love it!
Noah dancing before church, in his new church clothes. He now wears a little boys extra small. Sniff...sniff. He's out of the toddler department. The kids made what they called pepper soup in the laundry basket. Geee guys, it looks...good. The kids were "good" while we were grocery shopping so we stopped and got a treat on the way home.
We let the kids make their own little pizzas for lunch today. I didn't have any pizza sauce so we had to use barbecue sauce instead. Noah was quite the pizza artist. He made this awesome face. He even gave him eyebrows and boogers.
He was so proud of his pizza guy. Yum yummy. Noah and Tess were thrilled with their letters. Noah was very upset.
He's a sensitive child. Either that or he was cranky because he didn't get a nap. This is only half of the mess that the kids made before they had been up for two hours today. I made them clean it up before I fed them breakfast, they got to eat at 11. Noah wanted in on the photo taking session. Here's all six of the Crookston-Carter kids. As if you didn't already know: Noah, Andi, Tess, Dylan and then Peyton is looking at Tate in the swing, and that's Sam sitting behind the kids.
This was the only sparkler that Noah did. He was too busy being a chicken for the others, then he cried because they were all gone...ahhh, kids. We got the kids all bathed and jammied and lined then up for fireworks, which just scared most of them. Noah cowered over here by the trees until we were all done with the sparklers and then cried that he wanted one. Noah was very proud of this picture he drew of the "walking refrigerator." It was so cute!
Noah pulled his bed out to rescue his stuffed Clifford dog and he had a little trouble getting it back into the corner. Noah was thrilled when a new birthday present arrived in the mail today. It's an Air Force One playset. There's presidential motorcade along with the jet and a helicopter and some road signs (Noah's favorite part). Whoosh through the air!
Noah got another big card from Grandpa and Grandma Johnson. He also got this Crayola Sidewalk Sprayer. There was much Ooooing and Awwwing. They went right out to color the driveway with it. I overheard Jared telling Noah to spray the sidewalk and quit trying to hit the flies.
The people at Crayola are brilliant and made it so that it only squirts it's paint when it is pointed down. We had Noah's birthday party on the 9th. We put out the sprinkler and bought a bubble machine and some sidewalk chalk. Noah had a good time illustrating the sidewalk. These cheap water guns were a big hit. Look it's 00Jared.
Noah running from the camera. Noah was thrilled to open his card from Grandma Ida. Opening his present from the Davis'. Woo Hoo! Noah's first transformer.
Opening his gift from the Carters. Noah really enjoyed this giant birthday card. More Transformers! Noah (& Daddy) have had a ball with them. All the boys quickly crowded around the Transformers and started, ummm...transforming.
Noah blew out his candles as soon as I had them all lit. So we lit them again and made him wait for a picture. Ever since Noah played Pin the Tail on the Donkey at Andi's party he's wanted to play it again. Jared wants to know why the donkey needs tennis shoes... The kids had a good time with it.
Jacob did a pretty good job. His landed pretty close to Noah's. Spinning Dylan around in circles. Wow we got a lot of pictures of this game.
Tess really didn't like the blindfold, Jared had to keep pulling her hands off of it. Maybe we should have hung the donkey a little lower, or gotten Tess a step stool. Okay, now it's Andi's turn. Again I say there are a lot of pictures of this 97 cent party game...
Gee I wonder what the kids are doing now. Noah's excited to open his presents. Noah's opening his present from Grandma and Grandpa Crookston and Bree and Josh. Noah really likes his Dragon Castle. The dragon's voice was done by Antonio Banderas.
Noah was a bit bewildered by the ribbons. Now the degree of difficulty has been removed, so the opening of presents resumes. Yee haw, Mom, clothes! He loves both of the shirts. This thing is sweet. Both Noah and Tess like to leave it on for hours.
Noah got this sweet present from Caleb and Ashli. Now I gotta get me one so we can have battles. He can't hardly stop looking at the first few presents to concentrate on opening the next few. I had an old-fashioned non-electric learning clock when I was a kid, so I thought it would be fun to get him one too. Noah is opening a gigantic present from Grandma Glo and Ray.
Everyone is fascinated by the treats in the dump truck. Noah's dinosaur from Tess and Tate. Noah got to open one present early. We were going to the baseball game later that night, and Noah didn't have a baseball cap that fit anymore. So Aubrey decided to give him this present just before we left for the game.
It's a Superman cap. Noah loves it. He wanted to bring his camera to the game, though I was a bit worried about losing it. One handsome boy. Hey there sports fan.
Noah really wanted popcorn. He didn't really want to smile for a camera though. Noah had a lot more fun after Mike and I both moved around so Beeler and Noah could sit together. Noah played a bit of t-ball. He did a great job hitting those home runs. Noah was instrumental in designing the invitations to his birthday party. Mom helped out with the spelling, and content. (He wanted her to remind everyone to bring presents for him.)
Noah didn't really want to participate in the "sitting still and being cute" part of the program. After we moved him so that he could sit by Andi he did a little better. Geez don't they look thrilled. Noah spent a lot of time sitting there with this nasty look on his face...grrr, I hate that nasty look.
He did a great job telling everyone about our family flag. It was so cute, he kept saying "It's really cool." He liked the musical number. They sang happy birthday to Noah and Beeler since their birthdays are during the summer. Surprise, surprise, he really enjoyed this part.
And then he remembered that he was being obstinate. Way to sing the Joy School songs Noah! Baby Tess stepped in to help Noah out. The kids thought that the slide show of pictures was hilarious.
Here's the kids with their certificates. Noah was really concerned with the hot glue inside his hat. He actually said, "Ouch it's hot!" a couple of times (insert eye rolling here). Noah's wondering if he can trade this thing in for an ice cream cone somewhere. The kids got to (had to) give their moms/teachers ribbons.
We were trying to get a good group picture but Noah's legs melted so I was trying to hold him up by his shirt. Which he did not appreciate. It wouldn't really be Joy School if some one wasn't crying. What a cutie!
Watch out world; here I come! I taught Noah and Tess how to share a tricycle. They had way more fun together than they did each pedaling their own trikes. Noah really got into it.
Noah is waiting for a certain sprinkler to turn on. The kids are standing in a little rainstorm. We had the Carter's over for Memorial Day and the kids played in the sprinklers. Cameron is trying to rinse the kids off so that they can go inside.
Noah wasn't too happy about taking a nap, and when I went into his room a few hours later to wake him up for dinner, I discovered he had almost run away. He was just too tired to get out the door. Woo Hoo! Naptime! Noah wanted in on the creepy-red-picture taking fun. Noah's lookin pretty sharp too!
Here's the kids all ready to go and crash the reception. A cute lookin bunch if I do say so myself. Bree gave Noah a strawberry, since they don't stain anything. Noah was entranced by Josh's balancing tricks.
Noah is learning from a pro. Noah and Tess enjoying some refreshments. Noah and Daddy doing the weather at the No-Longer-Hansen Planetarium (sorry can't remember the new name). Noah was so excited to see the footprints on the moon.
Noah's trying really hard not to fall asleep. We had to turn around so Noah could take a picture of these dinosaurs. Noah and Dylan are enjoying some eggs and sausage. Noah trekking to the bathroom.
Noah wanted nothing to do with being in a picture next to my white legs. Noah's favorite part of the campout. Ask him, he'll tell you all about the park. And eating at McDonald's for lunch. Noah made this loop a million times. "Cheese!"
"Geronimo!" Noah went for a little hike, and when I told him to stop for a minute so that I could take a picture, he sat right down on the step. This spider was in the bathroom, which was about 225 stairs away from our tent. Noah usually needed a bathroom break twice on the way up and once on the way down, it was so long. Noah is getting ready for bed, and I'm trying to get a picture of the two of us, though it's really hard to see where I'm aiming.
It was oppressively hot and muggy, though we didn't mind too much. He never complained about sweating. He fell right asleep after a busy day. Hannah, Beeler, Noah and Andi are all special and they have the spray painted Burger King crowns to prove it. Noah was entranced by the lightsabers (sp?). We were of course shocked to hear that he wants one for his birthday...
Noah made this picture of himself at Joy School. Noah was too busy composing protest songs to clean his room. We're not sure where they learned this "tee up on a tea cup" thing. For some reason the Easter bunny decided it would be a good idea to leave the kids' baskets by their doors and we awoke to the aftermath.
Finding Easter eggs. The Easter Bunny brought Noah these Superman pajamas. Superman has very tough muscles. "On no! Somebody's in trouble!"
How cute are my kids? Another one of those candid favorites. Hold still. Smile. Don't drop the baby! More silly faces.
What to write? What to write? Noah admiring the eggs. Noah dressed himself in these shorts and shirt and sweater vest. Noah got these sunglasses in a goody bag from a birthday party.
We were really impressed with these pictures that Noah colored. They had a good time riding around even though it was almost dark when we finally got outside. We're trying out a 2008 Audi TT. Tess didn't really want to share a seat, so she got a reputation as "the girl that throws fits in Audis" that stuck with her as we bumped into random people throughout the day. Noah and Tess were listening to some Porsche exhibit. Tess is completely blocked by Noah in this picture. The kids were more interested in the headphones than letting Daddy sit in the Cayman.
I sat in a Saturn Sky to see if I could even fit. Happily, I could. Also happily, once Aubrey is in the passenger seat, the kids don't fit. Good date car. The kids were thrilled. Noah was so happy to wear his new tie. We have such cute kids.
The kids are all dressed up their new clothes. See Noah's blog for this story. Noah having a drink on the porch swing. Noah had is jammies on "outside up and backwards." After we took the picture he wanted help getting them "right side in."
After playing the Wii at the Carters house Jared and the kids tried shaking around our remotes. It wasn't quite the same. Here are the kids trying to soak the linoleum off of the bathroom floor. Both Noah and Tess thought the puzzles were a lot of fun. Noah pouting with his straw.
Noah's pretty cute, when he's not being ornery. Noah and Tess in their respective thrones. Noah got Tess this soccer ball. She really didn't want to let go of the suitcase to open anything else.
Noah enjoyed the bubble wrap. Noah wanted to sit by Andi, but she totally turned him down, and said she would sit by Tess. Such a cute couple. Noah saw cameras and wanted to get in a few pictures. Tess played with the singing train while Noah popped bubbles.
All the kids are almost patiently waiting for cake. I think that this is when the laundry basket was being a boat. What a cute kid. Noah didn't want us to take a picture of his messy face.
"Grandpa you're a couch." We sent Noah out to get some fresh air. Hey I'll bet that I shouldn't be playing with this... It's a Noahsaur.
I'm not sure why he's making this face... It's nice to have something for the kids to do outside. "Take my picture too!" Noah hit his head and wouldn't calm down until we put this Scooby Doo Band-Aid on his head.
Noah wrote out his name on the fridge with no help. Noah was absolutely thrilled to meet Baby Tate. Noah kept trying to make him smile by saying silly things and making funny noises. Noah is so excited to share his bedroom with his little brother.
Our attempt at a family picture. Tess wants nothing to do with the whole thing. Noah and Tess both love playing dress-up. Now if only he would stop raiding her box to do so. They each have a boa and high heels on. A couple of cute little kids. Daddy and Noah arm wrestling.
I guess "go change your underpants" sounds a lot like "put some underpants on your head." Classy classy... Here are the kids coloring some thank you notes. We had to put these shirts on them because the stupid erasable markers they were using are NOT washable! Here are the kids in the clothes they got at Old Navy with the giftcards from Grandma Glo & Ray. Noah got both the shirt and pants; Tess got the pants, slippers and hat. "Take my picture too!"
The kids were thrilled and kept saying "thank you" and "it looks great!" Noah got this guitar from Baby Tess. Noah loved the viewmaster projector we got him. You can't see it because of the flash but he is looking at the reels on the wall, notice the little remote in his hand. Great Grandma and Grandpa Johnson sent Noah this neat globe. It has a little airplane that you can control with the joystick on the side and it tells you things about what you are flying over. I never took geography so I'm sure we'll both learn a lot.
Grandma and Grandpa Sowerby sent the kids this kitchen. Santa brought Noah this little digital camera. The kitchen came with a chefs's hat, luckily it is adjustable so we were able to get it onto Noah's fat head. The stickers came with the guitar and Noah put them on all by himself. Jared kept telling him to leave the tuning end of the thing alone.
He's had a lot of fun with it. I don't have a headache yet but I'm sure one is coming. Noah's Christmas haul. Holy Cow! Is Baby Tess really smiling in holiday pictures??? "I may look cute now but I'll soon make up for it during Sacrament meeting. He he he."
This would have made a cute Christmas Card photo too. Here the kids are getting all set to open the traditional Christmas Eve pajamas. From the looks of this picture you'd think that it took a great deal of concentration to open a present. "Oh gee. Pajamas. Great. Thanks."
Here the kids are decorating themselves, oops, I mean some cookies to leave for Santa. Hmmmm...leaving the kids for Santa...now there's an idea. Here are the kids in their new Christmas jammies. Merry Christmas! Noah was all set to play the part of Joseph in the Joy School Christmas play. Then all of a sudden he decided he would rather not and pouted by the door instead. I'll bet you didn't know there was a whiny dork in the Christmas story did you?
After the play was over the kids sang a couple of songs. Noah sang parts of the one with the jingle bell props and then headed back to his post by the door. He's pretty cute, for a party pooper that is. Look at 3/4 of the children participating...how cute. The not so rare North-American-short-blond-haired-blue-eyed-boy.
Some cute kids of the Crookston & Carter varieties. Noah, Dylan, Tess and Andi. Tess freaking out and Noah making a goofy face. This one turned out pretty good. Tess was pointing at Daddy, who just handed her right over to this creep, and Noah was wondering what all the fuss was about. The artist and her work.
Noah and Baby Tess rocking out to the wonderful singing Christmas reindeer. Noah's favorite things to do were to make a necklace and drink out of his Batman cup. Well, that and play Tony Hawk on the X-Box. Neither of them could stay too mad at the kitty for long, even if she did bite them both. She was just so dang soft and pettable. More cute pictures of the kids at the wedding.
I am running out of captions for the cute pictures of the kids at the wedding... This was the winner for the Christmas Card this year...he he he. Noah looked really sharp! Noah and Grandpa. Noah was just enthralled by the music.
What a cute little untucked boy. Noah is having a good time playing on the airplane at the airport. Tess also had lots of fun. These pajamas are too small for Noah, as he got them a year ago. See how big they are on him here. If you'll remember back to the picture of Baby Tess in the dress we bought for her to wear to Megan's wedding you'll see that both of our kids are thrilled about the apparel that has been chosen for them.
Noah wore this shirt like this for most of the day. He looks sort of like a hobbit. Noah and all his joy school friends. Tess snuck in too. Noah and his friends all had fun wearing their costumes.
The kids on the way out the door to go trick-or-treating. Noah accidentally ran into a handle and hurt his face yesterday, but he's forgotten all about that now. We carved pumpkins tonight for family night. Noah thought it was a mess. He mostly preferred to watch and give directions. Like a contractor or something. Noah is quite the little bean farmer.
Here are the kids all dressed up for the ward Halloween party. In the words of Noah "Yee Haw!" Noah played in the bounce house pretty much all night. He stayed in there until some big kid landed on top of him, then he wanted to be done. After the trunk-or-treat, the kids were very excited about all the candy they were given.
This is later in the night, after going to Walmart. Noah is fast asleep, and Tess is bouncing off of the walls, singing, "Halloween! Halloween! Trick or Treat!" Noah is teaching Baby Tess all about brushing her teeth. Noah grabbed Aubrey's keys and started to go for a drive. He said he was going to "Old McDonald's" for breakfast. Noah bought a peach today with some money he got from Grandma Ida.
He gave the cashier the peach and his dollar, and she gave him back his change. He is such a big boy now. Noah saw other people getting their pictures taken, so he wanted to pose for the camera. The half-grimace is because he's really trying his hardest to lift that pumpkin. Tess wanted nothing to do with "Cheese!" Noah wanted to make sure you couldn't see his hands since he tripped in the mud.
Once Noah realized there was a maze, there was no way to get him back to the pumpkin part of the place. This is the newest addition to the Crookston Family Zoological Garage. We've decided to call him Kermit. Noah wasn't really a fan of Kermit. He kept saying, "He's going to eat my arm." Daddy gave Noah a bubble mohawk in the tub today, Noah wasn't really a fan.
Here's Noah riding his "dinosaur." Here are Noah's big muscles. Here's a dark picture of Noah sleeping on top of his "Clifford" dog. A cute boy and his dog...
After the kids made a big mess on the table with washable crayons they got to clean it up. It's too bad that they think stuff like this is a game... Noah is going to be a cowboy for Halloween and keeps asking us to put his costume on him and then when we do he gets all depressed. The reluctant cowboy is three feet and five inches tall. Here's the Joy School bunch making those pictures you make with paint and half an apple. From the little boy in the front around clockwise: Beeler Adair, Allie Cox, Hannah Knight, all you regulars will recognize Noah, and the little girl in the front is Andi Carter (whose father was in the mission with Jared and just got a job at L3 and moved into a house just a couple of blocks away. Woo Hoo!).
Here we are making "Books of Color." The color of the day was blue...just like me when I have to teach school instead of taking a nap. Just kidding... Here are Noah and Tess, before all the barfing started. Tess would put her hat on Noah's head and then point and yell "hat!" UNCLE NATHAN! But the best thing we brought home today was this awesome box!
Noah thought the box was great...which was good because he didn't really get anything cool this trip, unlike his siblings. We have a lot of pictures of Noah wearing nothing but underpants because after he changes out of his naptime Pull Up (aka Sleeping Underpants) he usually refuses to put his shorts or pants back on; and unless we are planning on leaving the house I usually decide not to choose that battle. Awwww, how sweet. They're sharing. After nearly wrecking dinner while throwing a ball around in the house, where ball-throwing is not allowed, Noah and Daddy had to have a time out.
The kids are ever so helpful when it comes to making dinner...I was standing to the right of Noah but this is the cute part of the picture. There was a butterfly on the window in the door. The kids were absolutely thrilled. (It's hard to tell with how dark the kids faces are, though.) It was the most exciting thing today for them. When I came home from work, I got to hear all about the butterfly (or in Tess's words, the Buddy-Bye).
Noah singing into his crevice tool microphone. (All American Rejects, Move Along in case you were wondering...) Noah and Daddy in a vacuum part rock band rehearsal. Noah really wanted to go out and play with the bubbles earlier today but I made him wait until Daddy was home just in case I needed to rush Baby Tess to safety. I guess she has overcome her fear of bubbles, not of the bath tub variety of course, and I'm not sure if that applies to the bubble machine at nursery yet...
Noah was doing this psycho arm waving thing trying to pop them all as soon as possible while Baby Tess looked on with admiration. This picture turned out really good. Noah was ready to flee to safety. In an effort to protect his identity Noah's gorilla has been wearing this elephant nose lately.
Here's Noah on his first day of Preschool. What a cute little ham. Here's most of our little Joy School group, minus a few moms. From left: our only experienced teacher Julie Knight (Ms. Julie), Beeler Adair, in the purple is Hannah Knight. The little girl in the red shirt is Allie Cox and next to her is Noah. Be sure to note all the cute visual aids I made. Daddy makes a great horse. We may have to get some seatbelts installed to keep Baby Tess on.
Noah loves swinging, though it took him a while to remember how to pump his legs. I tried the rapid-fire function on the camera. It's why the resolution is so low. He spent quite a lot of time in the swings. Noah is driving the Pirate ship.
Aubrey is (re)teaching Noah how to pump his legs. Aubrey and all 3 kids (tee hee) riding the swings. Noah fell right asleep after playing at the park. We wore him right out. I think the leg-crossing is the best part of this picture though. Noah had a great time "vacuuming" the kids room at CarMax.
Here's Noah showing off his big muscles This is the spot on the floor where Noah has been sleeping lately, minus all the animals which he got down just to throw at Daddy. At least he wears Pull Ups to bed now, otherwise there would be a lot of carpet cleaning in my life. In the words of Noah "Hee Haaw!" After I took a picture of Baby Tess Noah wanted to have his picture taken too, and then he refused to smile.
Jared and Noah have invented a game, which Noah calls "Mad Guys", and this is the face that Noah makes when they play said game. Jared will have to fill you in on the specifics because to me it just looks like a bunch of yelling and/or growling and throwing things at each other. The kids coloring a picture in my notebook...at least they are doing it together...and getting along. Ummm...Noah eating some toast... I am not sure why Noah felt the need to capture this moment for posterity; but he asked me to take his picture so I did...
Noah talking on his "yucky banana phone." It's a plantain-Jared ate them on his mission and makes them at home every now and then. Noah was fascinated. Noah on the other hand really enjoyed his bath. Noah made this "train" out of everything he could move in the livingroom. He kept trying to get Jared and I to ride the train too, but we were poor sports so eventually he loaded it up with stuffed animals.
Noah had a ball with the carpet flick. He even made the home teachers come and see his room after he had "cleaned" it, the part of the carpet that wasn't covered in toys was pretty clean I guess. The kids ran around in their Mickey/Minnie Mouse hats for quite a while on Sunday morning. Noah started the whole hat thing when he came out of his room wearing it and singing the Mickey Mouse Club House theme song. Noah helped daddy pick out his shoes, socks and tie for church on Sunday.
Noah finished his before everyone else and then kept telling us that he wanted our popsicles too. Noah made a fun game out of diving into all the soft stuff he piled on his bed. How cute is that boy? Check out Noah's blog to see this picture in action. We really have no idea where he learns stuff like this...
Noah would have gone to church in this getup if we had let him. Some people ask me if Noah still makes the "Uncle Nathan Face." Obviously, the answer is yes. We took the kids to the park after dinner today. Noah figured out how to pump his legs when he swings. Which makes swinging a lot more fun for me...
We tried out the nifty (or rather hokey) sparklers I bought this evening too. Noah wasn't too sure about the whole thing at first. But he got excited after a minute. Noah waved them around until they went out and Daddy had to light them again.
We aren't really sure who started the lunch time food fight, but we figured Tess wasn't quite old enough to use the vacuum. Look! He's a gross little artist. Noah told Jared he drew this picture for me...guess who got to clean it up? Here is Noah in his beloved Army shirt. He digs around until he finds it, after we have put him to bed, and pulls it on over his pajamas. Notice how reflective the paint on it is? The paint is black!
A blanket over the couch=a really cool fort, and mom is a genius. I love her hair! The mess gets bigger each time. Noah seems to be a fan of dirt cups.
FYI: A dirt cup kit from Wal-Mart will make a dozen dirt cups. Which will give your kids plenty of chances to make a HUGE mess. You would be amazed at what such a small cup of pudding can do. Here is a picture of one of the biggest food messes we have had to clean up thus far in Noah's life.
Noah is trying to hide in this little bag since he isn't supposed to be on the toy box (especially after bedtime). I'm not sure how many hats Noah needs to wear at a time, but better safe than sorry, I suppose. Noah has been excited to go back to Chuck E Cheese since we went for Jack's birthday party. We promised him we'd get to go when Grandpa came to visit.
I had my qualms about this initally, as I don't let Teletubbies in my house. Noah is running around like a nut while Grandpa gathers tokens. Noah wants to play the soccer game. Noah had fun kicking the soccer balls.
Grandpa had a fun time escorting Noah around Chuck E Cheese. Before we got the camera over here, Noah and this girl were being very cute together. I suppose Noah was just embarrassed to have photographic evidence of him flirting with a girl. Noah's eating one of those fruit snacks that peels apart.
Noah had a lot of fun pulling it apart and eating the strands individually. Megan enjoyed the wireless internet at Hotel Crookston. Grandma brought Pop Rocks along, and was excited to see the kids reactions. Noah trying Pop Rocks.
Noah liked the Pop Rocks, and eating them out of his hand was a messy disaster. So we gave him a bowl and a spoon. I think he likes the feeling of the Pop Rocks. He appears to be throwing a fit. A safe guess, really. Munch munch, it's time for a messy lunch.
I wasn't really around for a lot of these pictures, so I don't really know what's going on. More lunch? Noah decided to color some pictures of Mickey Mouse. It's fun to color while Baby Tess is bathing or sleeping, because then she can't eat your crayons. I got to carry Noah around for most of the afternoon, and we saw tons of animals.
Noah's taking a small break from looking for monkeys to say hi to Megan, the photographer extraordinaire. Noah and I are looking at Giant River Otters from Brazil. Noah just found out about some birds that were behind us. We're looking at a Toucan on a banana tree. Use your imaginations!
Noah and I saw tons of animals. Noah was very excited about the jumping monkeys. Noah got scared a few times by a few animals. I'm not sure what we're running from here, though. Sometimes, I have no idea what to write as a caption. This is one of those times.
Noah was happy to see some penguins in real life. Something has startled Noah again. Noah jumped into my arms anytime he saw something scary. Even when Noah was scared, he wanted to see the animals as up close as he could.
Noah and Tess and I got some upclose views of the Giant River Otters. I'm not sure what he's hiding from here. Once Noah realized that this green snake was actually a snake, he liked it much less. Noah was so excited for Grandma and Grandpa to arrive that he couldn't even sleep in his bed.
Noah loves playing with his T-ball set. To say that Noah is getting good would be an exaggeration, but he is getting better. The best seat in the house? Dad. Happy Birthday Noah! We let Noah open the presents from our family in the morning before Daddy went to work.
I hear Grandpa (Sowerby) picked this cool Batman wrapping paper out, Noah loved it. Noah got this cool truck from Grandma and Grandpa Sowerby. Baby Tess got Noah some stuff for his Geo Tracks train set. Well this looks interesting.
Opening one of his gifts from Bree, Josh, and Grandma and Grandpa Crookston. This was Noah's other present from Baby Tess. Noah was really excited when he saw what was in the card from Grandma Ida. Great-Grandma and Grandpa Johnson sent Noah this cool car from the Cars movie.
They also sent a shirt with the Cars car on it and these shorts. The Crookston's also got Noah this Barrel Loader for his train set, and Noah loves it! Noah examining his card from Grandma Glo and Ray. Noah got a really cool helmet from Mommy and Daddy, it's blue and has flames on it.
When Noah saw what the helmet was for he got very excited! We got his this shiny new tricycle. I'm sure he'll figure it out someday. Noah arranged all his presents into a neat little pile after he opened them. When we blew up the balloons Noah decided that the green ones were all his and hoarded them over in the corner.
He kept telling Baby Tess to go and play with the yellow ones. Funny kid. We had some friends over for Noah's birthday. From left: William Snow, Jack Leerskov and Noah. Here's Jack and Noah making some animal sun catchers.
More sun catcher fun. From Left again: Jared's head, Loran Leerskov, Ashlea Ash and her daughter Mackenzie. Elisa Snow and her son William and Ned Snow to the right. And then the back of Allie Leerskov's head. Starting in the left corner: Kathy, Jack and Eirik Leerskov. Just right of them are the Ash's (Ashlea, Chris and Sam is the baby in the blue). Noah and Tess are in the middle of everything. William Snow is standing behind Noah and his mom Elisa is sitting against the wall by me. The Leerskov girls and Mackenzie Ash are playing with balloons and Ned Snow is enjoying my glider. Noah blows out his canldes while Jack waits patiently in the background for some cake. Noah and Daddy opening presents from our friends while Jack runs by.
The Snows got Noah this playdough set with a bunch of animal parts. I promised Noah he could play with it in the morning. The Leerskovs got Noah this neat T-Ball set. Noah got one for Jack a while back and he has since had a chance to enjoy it at Jack's house. Mackenzie Ash is on the left. The Ashs got Noah a set of safari animals. He has enjoyed them already. We forgot to take a picture of all the decorations before the party so here's a shot afterwards.
This was the Shrek pinata that we made into a hippo. It's one of the pull string kind so no one has to swing a bat. The kids took turns pulling one string at a time until we found the one that opened it. Noah was a big help today while I was making his birthday cake. Noah's birthday stash. "C'mon Mom. Just one?"
The birthday cake from somewhere unpleasant. Seeing it all done I feel much better. There were many times during preparation that I was ready to toss the whole mess and buy a cake. (Thanks to Jared and Mom...without their help/moral support this cake would be in the garbage.) We did some grilling for Memorial Day. Noah was quite fond of the corn-on-the-cob. Noah had a couple of these little cobs. He did a good job of not eating the part that isn't corn. If only he'd learn to not eat the cores of apples, then we'll be set.
Noah made this cute picture in nursery at church. After we brought it home and rolled it out he spent a lot of time laying on it. Jared thinks that it looks a little mutated (he said it gave him the jibblies-although I am not sure what jibblies are) but I think that it is cute. There was a fly on his swingset, so Noah tightened up his shirt collar and told it to fly away. (The shirt collar thing runs in his family.) Noah found this cooking magazine and brought it over to read.
Noah pointed out a number of recipes that he thought looked good. We got to go to a birthday part for Noah's good buddy Jack at Chuck E. Cheese. The kids are (from front right around) MacKenzie, Jack, Loran, Allie, Noah and Beeler. Noah was not even sort of interested in eating. He just wanted to play. It looks like he's mid-burp here, excuse Noah please. (Beeler, Noah and Allie)
The pizza was pretty good, I was impressed considering it was Chuck E. Cheese. Noah did enjoy the root beer. (Beeler and Noah) Noah was just entranced by all the stuff there was to see. (Noah, Beeler and Eva) Just past Brother Adair, Noah and Daddy are kicking some soccer balls. Whatever game this was Noah apparently loved it.
Noah was a little unsure about the jetski game but it looks like Daddy was having a good time. What a ham! When Chuck made an appearance he was quickly swarmed by kids. Noah is on the right. He loved it! Noah dancing right along next to Chuck E. Cheese.
Noah is very very excited to go camping. (And yes, he has a shiner. He tripped and hit his face on a chair at a primary activity today.) The kids had a dance party inside the tent. Noah wanted to hold an umbrella out in the rain. He loved the noise that the rain would make as it bounced off of the umbrella.
Noah and I went for a walk and to play in the rain. Noah and Tess were playing basketball tonight. Noah likes to try and dribble. He usually smacks the ball a couple of times before it escapes. Noah thought it was a lot of fun to run in big circles around it.
Noah pausing to throw a little tantrum. All ready to go in and have a bath before bed. We (meaning Jared) finally did something with the edge of our dirt and the pile of bricks in the garage. Noah thinks that it looks great!
The Easter Bunny brought Noah a copy of the new Wallace and Gromit movie. He was so excited he picked it up and hugged it. Noah checking out his easter booty. Pretty spiffy Batman hat huh? Noah did a really good job finding all the eggs that sneaky bunny hid in the living room. He really liked putting the eggs back into this thing on the box.
Woo Hoo! Last one! Noah is the sweetest kid. Noah had a delicious chocolate bunny for breakfast. Noah and Daddy all ready for church on easter morning.
Handsome handsome! Here we go with Baby Tess crying in the holiday pictures. Noah and Daddy coloring easter eggs. Baby Tess is a little too young to join in on the egg coloring fun so we kept her entertained with mini M&M's.
Noah had a ball coloring the eggs...and his fingers. Ta Da! And now on to bedtime. Noah moved this little chair over to have easier access to...
The candy dish on the counter. Noah got some snazzy new jammies too. We figured the ones that said night crawler would be appropriate given his current bedtime tendencies. Sometimes we get a little camera happy. Noah loves to push Baby Tess on the swing.
Sometimes he forgets to pay attention and the swing clocks him, but for the most part they both enjoy it. Baby Tess says "Wheeeee!" What cute kids we have! Noah dropped his bunny in the slush in Denver so we had to wash him. He was VERY happy to get him back.
Noah loves to stick his face into that hole and watch the clothes get washed! He was a little concerned about his shirt and its safety. The Burger King enjoying a sip of the royal chocolate milk. This gold star balloon chased Noah around the Hertz building for a good 20 minutes!
Noah likes the half that the cream filling sticks to. Something he learned from his mother. Noah demonstrating the proper Oreo twisting technique. Feeding the ducks at Nate and Ashley's house. We took one more of these for Ashley but somehow they both ended up here.
Noah was showing off his big muscles by trying to lift up tree branches. He really enjoyed the low hanging branches on this tree. Noah paused from his laps down the slide just long enough to hold a courtesy cone. And he's off...
This is Noah's "cheeeese" face. Also very cute. Move along... It only looks like Noah did a lot of sleeping on this trip. In the words of Noah, "So cool!"
On our first day visiting Grandma & Grandpa Noah fell asleep cuddling with his bunny as well as Grandma's monkey. Noah wanted us to take a picture of him, too. Noah absolutely loves spaghetti. "This crayon is broken." Noah and Tess love to play peek-a-boo with each other. Noah likes to stand behind Tess when she is in the highchair, and they peek around the sides of the chair and laugh at each other.
Noah thinks that wagon wheel macaroni makes fine jewelry. What a goon. Yup, goon. Noah and Tess sure love these puzzles!
Noah wandered around all morning in his batman pajamas and daddy's hat. He calls it his cowboy hat. We got the tax return and went on a little shopping spree. Noah came away with this cute little "pack-pack" which he can't wait to show to Grandma & Grandpa. Cheese! (or maybe cheesy?) Noah and Riley...what more can I say?
This is a good way to break a calculator, just ask the one that we had to replace. Aubrey is sharing her ice cream sandwich with Noah. Noah is apparently really enjoying this meal. What a goofy lookin' face.
The pantsless wonder! Don't be fooled by his angelic stance. Our kids looking pretty sharp before church. Hmmmm. So cute.
Holy cow! How many of these did we take? I have no idea what is happening in this picture. The kids are looking sharp. Noah's a good driver.
But I'm not sleepy. He really did wear this hat to bed that night! Noah and Clifford. Don't we have one of these pictures from where I am sitting too? Look at how cute my kids are!
Grainy, but still cute. Grandma was trying to get a picture of the kids smiling. Target had these giant stuffed dogs on clearance for $5. The kids absolutely love them, and Noah has named his Clifford, which is appropriate. Noah wanted to wear his Steak 'n' Shake hat to bed after we went there for dinner. What a cutie.
Noah and his bear are taking a nap. Somebody loves me! Noah was thrilled with his little box of "chwok-lates." Noah is thrilled about his new church clothes. He looks really sharp even if he's pouting.
Noah and Tess got some ice cream cones as valentine's day presents from Grandma and Grandpa Crookston. Noah wore his "safety hat" for a good part of the afternoon. As you can see it leaves something to be desired in the field of head protection. But it comes with a snazzy theme song. Noah danced in his hard hat, while singing something and shaking a homemade maraca.
I love him, but I look at this picture and want to say something about the Village People, or maybe the village idiot. Noah loved this huge orange ball. Unfortunatley it wouldn't fit in the trunk of the Civic so he had to hold it on his lap all the way home. It was very exhausting and when we got him out of the car and peeled the ball off of his forehead he had a red mark the size of a silver dollar above his right eye. Noah always loves posing for pictures. Except for when he doesn't. The kids are playing together and having a blast.
I love that the two of them get along so well. This place comes with the understanding that if you pee your pants in it it becomes garbage. I hope that Noah can meet the terms of his first lease. These two are such a riot together. They were playing and having so much fun, but Noah decided he was in a No Camera mood. I suppose I can't blame him.
But Mom insisted that we have a good picture of the two of them in the bathtub, so we kept trying. Well, at least they are both looking in the right direction. Maybe another day we'll worry about smiles. Riley came over today and we pulled the table up on to the patio so that Noah could finally have his "pic-mic." This is Noah going through his little "I don't want to take a picture" thing. He actually told me to take a picture of Baby Tess' mess! Noah really liked his dinosaur gloves and hat. The gloves were a little big so I had to keep fixing them for him but he loved wearing them.
While I was out of the room Noah climbed into the bassinet. He didn't know that he knew how to climb until he got the swingset in the backyard. Noah and Grandpa were playing together while Bree hovered nearby with a video camera. I think that Bree is trying to capture the whole experience on camera. You'll have to excuse the kids, they are on a "smile-at-the-camera" strike. Just pull the wagon already!
Wagon riding will be even better once the sidewalks are all finished. Noah loves swinging with Baby Tess. It was still seventy five degrees at sundown this evening. These kids are so dang cute!
My parents have a picture of Brandon and I doing this when we were kids. Noah on the other hand would rather hide behind daddy's tie. Okay...except for the sneer it's better than the last picture. Earth to Noah
Okay last one...I think. The train set and the green dinosaur are both from Grandma & Grandpa Sowerby. Good picks on both by the way! Noah got this really cool dinosaur hat and gloves set. Now he can't whine about it being too cold to go outside. Noah pouting in the red wagon that Santa brought the kids.
Noah is really enjoying this picnic table from Grandma Glo. Lucky for him it was almost seventy degrees outside on Christmas Day this year. On Christmas Eve the kids get to open their brand new pajamas. Noah wanted to keep opening things and Tess just wants to go to bed. This table and chairs set is a combined birthday gift for the kids. Thank you Grandma Glo! They just love it! Everytime you walk by Noah asks you to sit down, it is so funny.
See...smiley, grumpy and goofy. Like dwarfs but different. Maybe we'll get a better picture next week. I look at this and want to say something about him being born in a barn or raised by wolves...or something. I made pizza dough in the bread maker and Noah loved watching it go. He sat up there with his face pressed against it while it moved. He was really bummed when the kneading part was done.
Cute cheesy kid. After eating some carrots and ranch dressing, Noah licked the plate clean. Noah and Santa at the ward party. All he wants right now is that candy cane... Noah...Noah...look over here.
Actually I just wanted the candy cane, but thanks anyways. The ball pit suffered an unfortunate death so we put all the balls into this kiddie pool. The kids just love it! We have the cutest kids. The kids in their 'winter' duds.
HA! I have photographic evidence! Noah and his friend Riley are both enjoying some soup for lunch. Here are the kids in their Mickey Mouse hats. We were trying to get them to smile at the camera, and not just at each other.
We were trying to get them to smile at the camera, and not just at each other. What happy campers! No, they aren't being scolded. One of the best ways to get them to smile is to shake your finger and in an animated kind of voice say, "Bad Cat!" It usually brings on all kinds of laughs and smiles. Sometimes it doesn't last very long though...
This was our Christmas card photo this year. These kids sure are cute together. This will probably be the only time we are pleased to see Noah with a lampshade on his head. Noah really loves his new swingset.
Noah loves the slides. Good pick Grandma & Grandpa! Grandpa tired himself out pushing Noah around in this box. Noah's feeling a little suspicious on his first trip to the dentist.
Noah did a great job at the dentist, and has 20 healthy teeth. What a silly grin. He had just eaten blue saltwater taffy, and he didn't want to show his teeth. Aubrey loves to take pictures of her cute kids. Noah thought it was pretty good, too.
Noah goes to bed every night with his Truck book. Noah enjoys sitting on my shoulders. He gets a white-knuckle grip on my hair though. Noah thought the garage needed a good sweeping. He really tried hard to get all the hard-to-reach spots.
He ran around pushing the broom all over the garage. Noah wasn't eager to share his candy at all. Throwing a fit. We just wanted a picture of the two of them smiling. No one can touch the candy without upsetting him.
Noah is showing off his candy. Noah got to help carve pumpkins. He loved helping, even if he agreed with his mother that pumpkins are gross. Noah's completed jack-o-lantern.
He's in his diaper because pumpkins are messy. He was so excited for halloween. Noah's haul from the ward Trunk or Treat. He just wants to eat his candy.
Noah decided Mom's shoes were just his size. He actually got around pretty well while wearing them. Noah is teaching Tess to crawl. These two love playing with each other.
Tess loves to do headstands and look between her legs. This is Noah's bedroom. I think that he misses sharing a room with Tess. Noah always likes wearing his Batman pajamas. He can now sing the old 70s theme song, too. Noah was wearing a brand new black sweatshirt, and it really made his armpits look very hairy.
Old man armpits! One of our first tasks after finishing moving in was to assemble the porch swing. Noah loves it, and so do we. Noah is having lunch while we are moving into the house. Noah is kindly sharing his drink with the stuffed bear.
Noah really loves to thumb through this album of bridal and engagement pictures. Noah is a very happy little boy. Here are Noah's new duds. How handsome is he? This was at the park near our apartment in Greenville.
Noah had a great time playing there. At first, Noah was very nervous about the fabric bridge. He got over it quickly, though, and was soon jumping in the middle. Noah sure is a good driver.
Noah and I got to climb up a rope ladder. Noah likes drinking fountains a lot. Noah and Tess were playing together on the floor. He was holding her feet, rolling her back and forth and clapping them together. She was laughing hysterically. We moved Noah to a booster seat, and gave the high chair to baby Tess. They are both growing up so fast.
Noah is pretty cute too. Noah got to decorate the box we mailed to Grandma. Aubrey wanted to take a picture of Noah playing with some tractors that Grandpa picked out for him. Here's what we got instead. We tried again later, with more success.
Noah has Batman pajamas. He loves wearing them. He especially likes the cape. (I had to hold the car calendar up to keep his attention off from the camera so you could see his cape.) Both of the kids were enjoying a nice cold glass of juice.

Noah's lunch wiped him right out.
Noah really likes his new booster seat. It's not hard to laugh with a goofball like him around. We've got the cutest kids. This is the picture we have in our living room.
Noah is standing in what will be the hall bath. I sat down on Noah's bed, so he decided he would tuck me in for the night. He covered me in blankets, gave me a bunny to cuddle with, and read me a good night story. We put dinner in the oven, and there is a window on the oven, but no light. So Noah and I got our Mag-Lights so that we could see dinner cooking. Noah had trouble with the flashlight concept, as he kept holding the base of the flashlight up to his eye, trying to look through it like a telescope. Noah found this doll at the model home while we were doing the plan review. I suppose the doll was hungry, because he was patiently nursing it.
Aubrey bought Noah a blue slush thing from Sonic, and it stained him good. Noah decided he's plenty big enough to start wearing ties on Sunday. I love how he is smelling the flower. Noah had just turned 2, and Tess was only 6 months old.
It was getting close to bedtime, but our kids were having fun playing together. They really do a good job of entertaining themselves. Noah also loved watching the fireworks. He kept clapping and cheering and saying "Wowee!" Noah was singing into Aubrey's hair curler thing like it was a microphone. I have no idea where he learned this, as neither of us sing into it.
Noah spent some time running around the yard in the sprinkler when we went with Tim and Amanda over the 4th of July. Noah loved it except when it sprayed him in the face. They had a number of floating toys, but the turtle was one of his favorites. He just laid on top while I pulled him around the pool.
The hat is a little droopy on his head, but it will soon fit well, I'm sure. Noah loved to go swimming. When we weren't in the pool, he would come up to us and say "Swimming?" Noah and Riley are best friends. Noah was really tired by this point in the day. Also, you can see that I only did a spotty job putting sunblock on his face. The rest of him was well lathered though. But don't worry, it was almost gone the next day.
Aubrey was filling the tub for Noah when Tess made a big leaky diaper mess. By the time they were finished with the diaper change, it was well time to turn off the tub. For the 4th of July we were going with friends to visit their family for the weekend. They have a pool, so we went and got Noah a new swimsuit and a hat.
Noah can brush his own teeth now. I still help him finish up when he's done. Noah got a lot of cool things like this Sit and Spin.
He likes to sit on it and press the button that makes it play music more than spinning. He also got these clothes from Grandma and Grandpa Crookston.	He really likes rolling the cars down the ramps. He got an Elmo toy that you can put costumes on and he talks.
He loves all of his presents. Noah also really enjoyed the cake and ice cream. Noah is playing with some finger puppets that Grandma Sowerby sent to him. Noah found my hat after I wore it one day, and wandered around wearing it for a while.
A couple of kids in diapers. Noah loves giving Tess kisses. He even says "I love you Baby Tess!" Noah ain't so good at ringbearing. Frodo shouldn't be worried about losing his job. My job was to entertain Noah. Uncle Mike supplied the balloons, and they kept all the kids entertained for hours. Noah would throw his up in the air over and over again.
Eventually he did tire of the game, but that was because he was just plain tired. He also spent a lot of time walking around the decorations and standing behind this wall. Noah modeling his tux for Brandon and Ashley's wedding. Noah separates his cereal into crunchberries and not-crunchberries.
You may have heard of Darth Tater, but how many of you know of Darth Noah?' Noah colored all over himself with pen and wanted to show off his artwork. Here's a somewhat better view of the newly decorated Noah. He looks like such a little boy here in his 2 year old picture.
Noah likes playing with Chevron cars. We needed to get Noah fitted for a tux for Brandon and Ashley's wedding. While I was taking these, I had a little trouble concentrating on getting everyone centered at the same time that everyone was looking. This one is more centered, but no one is looking. After this last attempt, I gave up.
Grandma Glo brought this giraffe for Noah to play with. Noah loved it. Grandpa Johnson made the mistake of calling it ugly in front of Grandma Glo. I hope everything is forgiven by now, though. Noah is playing here with his good buddy Zeke. They used to spend a lot of time playing together. Though one or the other would occasionally come out in tears, they generally had a good time together.
Noah was wearing my sandals, and he was never sure whether he was having fun or not. He would walk plenty, and he would occasionally smile, but I had trouble getting a picture while he was smiling still. After tripping over his own feet a couple of times, the novelty began to wear off. Noah was very good at the store, so we bought him a toy tiger as a reward. He loved it so much that he carried it with him everywhere.
Though he may look it here, he dances to the music on the TV way too often to be a couch potato. To be honest, he knows pretty much where everything goes. Noah tried to block his door with an empty ball pit and his giant teddy bear. Noah's gotten into the habit of sitting in his window sill to watch the cars on the interstate drive by.
We put him to bed, and then a little while later we hear him messing with his blinds. We go in, and there he is smiling at us from behind the blinds. But there is no denying that she is a gorgeous girl. Noah is standing on his windowsill now, not even sitting down. Aubrey wanted a better picture of Noah in the blinds, so she turned the blinds open to see him staring out at the cars.
Noah also loves to help unload the dishwasher. He'll unload each thing and hand it to you to put away. Mom likes giving Noah bubble hairdos. Noah loves to help around the house. He really likes dusting.
After he's dusted for a while, he likes to hit the duster on the TV screen and see the big dust mark it leaves. What a happy helper he is! Way to get into all the nooks and most of the crannies, Noah. Better dust those armpits, too.
Noah seems to be falling asleep during lunch a lot lately. That's probably because we've moved his morning nap to right after lunch. A cold made its way through our family, so we had the humidifier out a lot to minimize our kids coughing. Noah was enthralled by the mist that came out of the humidifier. He would try to grab it, and put his face in it. I guess that's why they tell parents with small children to buy cool mist humidifiers.
It seems like we have a lot of pictures of Noah making a mess while eating. Chocolate Cake a'la Noah. Noah was kind of in the mood to play with hats. He can't keep his hands off of them when he is wearing them, though. This is the longest he's gone while wearing a hat.
It didn't last too much longer though before he hated hats again. Noah was chowing down on an apple. He loved it. Noah likes playing Fisher-Price alphabet and shape games on the internet. Noah's already a very accomplished pianist. He can play "Random Key Sonata No. 6 in B# Minor" from ear.
We were getting a little tired, so Noah took over the driving at Little America. It was windy and very cold out, so Noah and Tess and I hung out in a very cramped front seat for a few minutes. Easter morning at the Crookstons. Noah got a chocolate rabbit (and the bruise on his head is from running into a wall while dancing the night before.)
And he got some eggs filled with candy. He loved the alphabet flash cards he received. He knows them all now. Noah also wanted to go through Tess's basket. She got a pretty dress for Easter. Chilling on the couch. Laid back.
The next few pictures were taken at the Easter primary activity. Noah made his own Easter basket (with a little help from Mom.) Ducking down to get some eggs from under the slide. I helped him decorate a cookie. Noah wanted to eat his cookie right away.
He was actually more interested in the icing than the cookie. He avoided the jelly beans completely. He had fun, and ended up covered in icing. However, as you can probably see, it was scheduled right during his naptime. Noah loves waffles, but he really loves syrup. After licking the plate clean, he's just covered in pancake syrup.
Going in for one last taste. We got some free address labels from somebody and we let Noah play with them. He was trying to stick them on himself but had trouble getting them off of his fingers. Aubrey helped him. I guess people will know who to send him back to.
Noah was supposed to be napping in his bed, but it seems he was more comfortable on his bear's lap. Grandma and Grandpa Crookston sent Noah some crayons and a coloring book for Easter. We took Noah to a park with Anthony and Wendy and he had a really good time. It was windy so we tried to fly some kites.
Noah loves making music. I tried to get creative with the picture taking. Noah loves swinging spider-style. He laughed and said wheeee the whole time.
Noah's keeping up to date on his stocks.
